newbie error?

Post by jaysea » 25 Apr 2015, 14:31

I run windows 8.1 64 but I can't seem to get hidmacros to work with my keyboard. I allways prompt up with the error "type mismatch FSXEvent" pressing a macro-key on my keyboard.
is this a known error? What to do?

No, haven't seen it yet.
It happens for any macro or only if you try to communicate with FSX?
Did you start it as admin at least once?

I did run it as admin and it happens when I just click the first macro "ADFSet". First I found my acer-keyboard in the devicelist and moved all the macros from the fsx-device to mine.
Following your keyboardpicture I pressed the F3 button to see if it matched the same number 144 which it did. I wanted to try it out so I skipped to the next macro and then I pushed the F3 button again but nothing happened and the error popped up' Even selecting the same macro and pushing the scan-button and then F3 on the macro-keyboard doesn't fix the issue
Strange is that some keys on my keyboard allready seem to be assigned to a macro. For instance the B key refferres to the Battery-macro, the N to Nav1.
I put my hidmacros.exe and xml files in the C:\FSX folder. By the way: I did rename de fsx.xml file.
Is this familiar to you?

Thanks for your time

Can't see how's your script defined exactly.
Are you sure the string (argument) is constructed correctly?
Do some debug of you script, read & construct the argument first, debug the value and then call Fsx event.
Or try FsxEvent with some static content first to see if problem is in event command or in the argument.

Petr, I just used your fsx.xml file cause I don't know anything about scripts.
I even deinstalled fsuipc and disabled ezdok, but still the same error.
the only macro that works is spotview

thanks again

Then it should work :-)
But seriously, I can not check myself because I don't have FSX installed any more. And also it can be windows 8 issue.
So hard to say, I'm afraid without scripting knowledge you can not fully use HidMacros - or its scripted commands.
